From April 1st, a new summer reduced pricing schedule will be in effect, with different hours for cheaper consumption.
The important thing for you is to know the changes and see how they will work to your benefit. That is why below, we will see in detail:
What are the new reduced charging hours?
How to organize the use of your devices?
What else is changing and what should you pay attention to?
So that you don’t stay in the “dark” and come out on top this summer!
1. Summer Night Electricity: The New Situation
Summer electricity refers to the use of electricity at reduced prices at specific times of the day during the summer period. It is essentially the summer version of the two-zone tariff that applies different charges depending on the time of consumption.
From April 1 to October 31, therefore, the new “broken” hours are in effect, replacing the old continuous night time (23:00–07:00). According to HEDNO, the new reduced pricing hours are as follows:
2. Summer-Night Electricity, Bi-Zone Billing Hours:
Meridian Zone: 11:00 – 15:00
Night Zone: 02:00 – 04:00
This means that if you use energy-intensive appliances (such as washing machines, water heaters or air conditioners) during these hours, you benefit from a lower charge per kilowatt-hour compared to the rest of the 24 hours.
The purpose of the change?
The new system is designed to shift consumption to times when there is more production from Renewable Energy Sources (RES), contributing to both lower prices for consumers and a more stable electricity grid.
The important thing to remember is that if you adjust your usage correctly, you significantly reduce your electricity costs in the summer, simply by taking advantage of the cheap zones.
3. Who Benefits from the New Summer Electricity
The new summer reduced pricing schedule does not affect everyone in the same way.
Who benefits the most:
Those who have a dual-zone or night meter on their connection.
Households and businesses that can program energy-intensive appliances (such as washing machines, water heaters, air conditioners) during the new schedules.
Consumers who have the opportunity to transfer part of their business electricity consumption to cheap zones, without changing their lifestyle or the operation of their business.
Electric vehicle owners who choose home charging, taking advantage of the lower prices compared to public charging points in their area. With proper planning, they can achieve significant savings in energy costs for their transportation.
4. Next Step: Dynamic Tariffs
After the new summer bi-zonal pricing system, the next big step in the electricity market is the dynamic orange tariffs. This is a new form of pricing, where the price of electricity will change every hour, depending on market fluctuations in the Energy Exchange.
How they will work:
Electricity prices for each hour of the 24-hour period will be announced to consumers by 8 pm the previous day.
Each tariff will have two parts:
➤ A basic price that will remain fixed.
➤ A variable part that will follow the Exchange price.
Protection mechanism: Providers will be obliged to notify consumers when the price exceeds 150 euros per MWh.
In addition, if the price reaches 200 euros per MWh, a special alert will be sent to your mobile phone via text message, so that you will be aware and able to manage your usage.
What this means for you:
With dynamic tariffs, proper consumption management becomes even more important. You will have the ability to schedule your usage at times when the price is low, ensuring even greater savings.
However, constant information and flexibility will be needed, as prices can change dynamically from day to day.
This is where AnapseTo comes in. It helps you understand and manage the changes each time, take advantage of opportunities and avoid pitfalls.
5. How to Manage Changes in Summer Electricity (and beyond)
Changes in tariffs and schedules seem (and are) complicated, but we make the process simple and clear for you.
After you fill out the form, a specialized consultant will call you and cover all your energy needs. Specifically:
We check which color tariff is suitable for your consumption and your needs.
We proceed to compare electricity providers and recommend alternative programs and suppliers, which will ensure even greater savings – especially now in the summer when consumption rises and air conditioners will burn at full blast, you need it.
We take care of the entire process of changing provider or tariff, if necessary, without delays, bureaucracy or wasted time for you.
Pay less this summer, smartly and without stress!
